More than two hundred and fifty species of birds use this ecosystem and some 90 reproduce here. During winter, the Sternides (Chlidonias niger) are outstanding oscillating from ten thousands to forty thousands specimens. During the breeding season, the Grey Heron Ardea or herons colonies may reach more than six thousand couples as a whole and they live among the plants of the lagoon.  
The colonies of larolimícolas, place the park as the second of importance for these birds in the western Mediterranean. As a whole, the breeding couples are nearly two thousands.

Other rare or scarce breeding species are the cerceta pardilla o “rosseta” (Marmaronetta angustirostris) and the seagull Larus genei.
